WHERE ARE YOU STAYING?
Sainte Foy
Precious, unspoilt, harmonious… Set amid some of the top-rated ski areas in the Tarentaise, Sainte Foy reveals itself in all its beauty and charm. Far from the frenzy of the big resorts, it cultivates an easy-going discretion.
Thanks to its rich traditional architecture, its listed hamlet, its historical monuments, its houses built on columns, its chapels, and all of its chalets crafted from stone, wood and local slate, you will soon be enthralled by its authentic mountain atmosphere. You will love strolling along narrow streets in the nearby hamlets, where mouth-watering restaurants lie in store. Its new yet characterful accommodations combine a range of upscale services.
A must-visit destination for lovers of rugged skiing, the resort has many forest runs and secret off-piste expanses. Heli-skiing is common, allowing you to experience the virgin white snow of the Ruitor Glacier and the famous North Face of the Fogliettaz. Sainte Foy is also suited to family holidays, with its modestly-scaled ski area, and just right for a wellness break. The resort’s spa centres offer themed care packages, making them fantastic places to relax, unwind and indulge.
Sainte Foy is like a rare and precious jewel. A secret to be whispered in the ear… very quietly!
On the fringes of La Vanoise National Park, Sainte Foy nests in an unspoilt natural environment. In the countryside around the main village and the resort of Bonconseil are 10 picturesque hamlets with old chapels and typical chalets. It was here that the architects working on the new developments found their inspiration, thus respecting the local traditions and architecture. Today Sainte Foy can accommodate nearly 2,800 visitors.
Nowadays, the traditional houses built on columns – a design that originated in Italy’s Aosta Valley – are thinner on the ground in the Tarentaise Valley. The columns support the overhanging roof, which provides a covered area: dry air can thus circulate in the hay loft or wood store, and the building’s occupants can move between floors while remaining sheltered from bad weather.
Such chalets can be seen in the listed hamlet of Le Miroir, but also in those of La Mazure, Montalbert, Le Baptieu and La Thuile, and in the resort of Bonconseil.

The Skiing Highlights
Heli-skiing
Very few sites in France permit heli-skiing, which, in this part of the Alps, requires a drop in Italy. Located right on the border, Sainte Foy is therefore specially well equipped for heli-skiing excursions. Whether you head for the mythical slopes of the Ruitor Glacier or prefer virtually unknown routes, heli-skiing promises unique thrills for all powder-snow lovers!
Sainte Foy Guides Office offer trips of varying difficulty, but geared to skiers who have already acquired high proficiency. With your guides, head off to discover huge swathes of untouched snow.
On-piste freeriding
In the ski area, in order to ensure accessible and secure off-piste skiing, the resort has introduced special areas dedicated to freeriding.
These areas, shown on the piste map, are natural playgrounds. Carve your own tracks in these ungroomed powder fields.
Techniride and Off Tracks: secure freeriding zones. Gently sloping, they are ideal for beginners to practise their basic moves.
Shaper Paradise: an off-piste zone reserved for creating jumps, and geared to experienced skiers. Ideal for trying out backcountry freestyle.
